This week, students from across the GRACE system gathered for their second annual GRACE Band Day, a special opportunity for young musicians to collaborate, learn, and perform together. Throughout the day, students participated in rehearsals and ensemble work before presenting a concert featuring both 7th- and 8th-grade bands, along with a small string ensemble.
We were honored to welcome several talented guest directors who shared their expertise and encouragement with our students. Dr. Michael Knight from UW-Green Bay directed the 7th-grade band, while Dr. Phil Klickman from St. Norbert College led the 8th-grade ensemble. Our string musicians had the opportunity to work with Dr. Taylor Giorgio of St. Norbert College and Mrs. Brenda Winkler from St. Bernard Catholic School.
Events like GRACE Band Day highlight the importance of music education and the value of collaboration between schools throughout the GRACE system.
At St. Thomas More Catholic School (STM), we are grateful for the growing opportunities available to our students in band, strings, and guitar instruction, and we are proud of the dedication and hard work our young musicians continue to demonstrate.
Thank you to our guest directors, music educators, especially Ms. Sarah Hanna, our STM Band teacher, and students for making this event such a wonderful success!
